Lemongrass is a tropical type of grass with a sweet, lemony falvour and scent. It is particularly associated with Thai and South East Asian cooking. Most of the flavour is in the thicker bulb end, which can be added whole to dishes, or peeled, then crushed or chopped.

Lemongrass Facts

Lemongrass is sometimes called citronella. While it is mainly used as a flavoring it has many health benfits with anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic properties. One tablespoon of lemongrass has .4 milligrams of iron, 5% of the recommended daily intake for men and 2% for women. Lemongrass also contains vitamin C, vitamin B-6, riboflavin and niacin in small quantities.
